As the word got out, local health systems came calling to leverage the research in everyday care decisions. Soon, the team spun out of the University of Washington to form KenSci Our name is derived from the Latin word Ken, meaning Knowledge and Sci, as in the business end of Science. Like most game changing innovation, here's looking at you DARPA and NASA JPL, government agencies often play a central role in embracing research for larger impact. We were fortunate to partner with leading Health agencies like CDC etc. to build our platform from ground up to address scale, deployment issues and complex technology infrastructure.

We made many mistakes. And we learnt that our core strength lies in operational AI in healthcare. We found our identity as a Systems of Insight company. And we are proud to partner with many multiple healthcare technology companies that complement and complete our value proposition, including Microsoft, CDC, Phillips, AllScripts etc.

In January 2017, KenSci raised $8.5 million as a part of a series A round of funding, led by Ignition partners, Osage and Mindset Ventures. We got lucky to find such nurturing partners betting on our ambition to build an important technology company. We were Ramen profitable. And now we could afford Happy Hours. We also get to hang out with more awesome people across more amazing cities and countries.
